Most New Mobile Subs are Prepaid

The top wireless carriers in the United States added 4.2 million retail subscribers during the fourth quarter of 2009. Of these subscribers, 65% were prepaid users.
This data indicates the growing popularity of prepaid. According to the Citizen’s Utility Board in 2009, 73% of cell phone users could save $300 or more per year on their bills.
